Potty Training....

This month's word is Potty.. brought to you by the letter P.. which has now taken over my life! I never thought I would ever devote so much of my day making sure that pee goes where it's supposed to go.. but alas, motherhood is a whole different story. Forget anything anyone tells you about potty training.. especially if you have TWO TODDLERS. There is no set a timer and your child will learn to go on a schedule.. haha, no that only works if you do nothing all day but make sure you know exactly what time it is at every minute of the day.. which I tried (lol, you should have seen my house!) What also doesn't work is trying to potty train both your boys at the same time.. because *DUH* they both want the duck potty! I mean who wants to sit on the froggy potty while your brother gets the new ducky potty? Not Ayden! lol! So here's what a day in my house has looked like this past week and a half (that's right people.. you can't always potty train your little ones in 3 days like the Internet tells you, haha!) So I'm sitting on the floor next to Garret sitting on the potty... it's been about 20 minutes now and I can tell he's got to pee but he's holding it like his life depends on it. So, it's either sit there for another 10-15 minutes until he gives up the fight or you let him up so he can run to the corner and pee on the carpet, lol.. first option it is. So while I'm sitting there Ayden decides he's a big kid now.. strips down fully naked and sits on the other potty.. but wow how boring is this? So what does my little fire cracker do? Runs! So I've got one sitting who would love for me to let him up so he can pee in the corner.. and I've got one running around the house butt naked who has almost no bladder control.. DECISIONS :) So I decide it will be easier to catch Ayden after Garret is done on the potty.. because for all I know Ayden has already gone and if I let Garret up I will have 2 messes to clean instead of one.. Ohh mommyhood :)
All in all it's really not all that bad... we are still having accidents (like this morning when garret just stood in front of the tv while I was vaccumming and peed a nice big puddle and then decided he was going to splash in it... ahhh) but then again, sometimes he uses the potty just fine. We haven't tackled anything but number 1 yet, but thank goodness he has enough control to hold #2 until he has a pullup/diaper on when he goes to bed. We tried the whole underwear thing ONCE and yeah I'm not a fan of cleaning poop out of fabric.. so we'll work on the night time/number 2 routine after we get number 1 down pat.
They are so lucky they are cute and tell me they love me and give me the sweetest hugs and kisses in the world :)
Oh and that they do this. My two little munchkins <3

Motherhood teaches me something new everyday

Teaching me doesn't even cover it. Not only am I learning more and more everyday, but nothing seems to surprise me anymore when it comes to my boys. Take my (almost) 2 year old for example. He's my little red head firecracker, and that is no understatement. I thought my (almost) 3 year old was wild at this age, but no, ayden takes the cake. This next year of "terrible twos" is going to test me as a mother more than I've ever been tested before.
His new "thing" is sticking things up his nose. I don't even realize he has anything up his nose most of the time until he sneezes and a little balled up piece of paper flies half way across my living room, haha! The first time it happened I was like OMG a huge booger just came out of that child and wondered how in the world did that just fly across the room like that? I went to go pick it up with a baby wipe, and realized it was a ball of paper. -__- REALLY son?! haha. Another thing my cute little demon has started doing is sticking anything and everything that he can fit in his mouth.. in his mouth. We have an easel with one side being magnetic, so I got them plastic letter and number magnets. Once again, I don't even realize whats going on until I see his chipmunk cheeks. When I hold my hand out he (thankfully) always spits whatever it is out into my hand.. but I'm talking like 2 of these letters at a time! He is getting his two year molars in right now, and he has never done the whole teething process very well, so I think thats where this new phase has stemmed from. And let's not even go there with the fits this child throws. My older son was a crier.. cried about anything and everything, and then turned into a screamer (funnnnn). But this one, he cries, he screams, he throws himself on the floor, into walls, etc and if there is anything in his reach, you better duck because 99% of the time, that toy or book is gonna come flying at your head at some point, lol.
I know he will grow out of it, so I'm not worried, and I know that he knows what he's doing is not acceptable because (get this) he puts HIMSELF in timeout. Yes, true story. Just this morning he was throwing a fit over something I can't even remember and he hit me in the face. I'm talking fist to fast with all his strength. Of course that does not fly with this mama, so he got yelled at and told NO with not such a happy look on my face. What did he do right after that? Went down the hall to sit in the timeout chair while crying for me. It was hilarious, but kinda broke my heart at the same time. So I gave him a minute to calm down, then sat down with him to explain that we do not hit, got a hug, and let him be on his way.
I feel like this is the only way to really let my boys know that I am not happy with something they did. I hate yelling at them, but at least they are starting to understand what is acceptable, and what is not acceptable at all.
My (almost) 3 year old on the other hand has pretty much grown out of his terrible two state in just the past few weeks. All the sudden he isn't crying over a toy, or pitching a fit, and hardly ever goes into timeout (unless he hits his brother while wrestling). He has one thing that he freaks out about, and that is his woody doll from Toy Story. He is obsessed, and it has absolutely taken the cake for his comfort item. He has to have it when he's sleeping, eating, taking a bath, etc. It never leaves his side.
I try to teach my boys to share all their toys, but with this one toy I always make sure if his little brother takes it, he has to give it back. I feel like it's a special toy to him and he shouldn't have to share that.

All in all, I think I am becoming a better mother everyday and I'm proud of my boys with how much they are growing up and learning. Garret is even singing along with songs from Nick Jr. and telling me what he does or doesn't want to eat for breakfast lunch or dinner.

I love my boys will all my heart, I just hope I don't go completely grey before they are 8 years old :)

March CRAZINESS

I've been so slack with updating this blog. I will get better at some point I promise! Maybe when school is done for this semester I can finally breathe :).

Anyways, forget March Madness.. this March has been INSANE.

To recap.. My husband got into a car wreck (he was okay, Thank You God!)

It was not a pretty sight. Probably one of the scariest phone calls I've ever gotten. There was no way I could get to him.. I had both boys and he had the car seats. Thankfully, my mom and step dad came to the rescue (like always :D) and went and got him, switched out their cars, and let us borrow theirs for a week. Car shopping SUCKS by the way. It took alot of phone calls, and a lot of people trying to sell us some crappy cars until we finally found the one we wanted.

We've been wanting something bigger anyways, and thought we would have had to wait until next year when I could go back to work. But this is our new car! It's a 2002, but clean on the inside and runs great :) I actually love to drive it.. I feel like a freaking giant compared to everyone else. I haven't had to drive in bad conditions yet.. and I'm hoping I dont have to any time in the near future. (I despise driving in the rain!)

Let's see.. oh yeah! I turned 25! and now I'm officially 25 forever. Nobody better ever tell me I look a day over 25, or I will choke them, ha! We went out with a bunch of friends and had a BLAST until some little french guy started talking dirty to the girls in french.. the boys didn't like that at all. It ended up being a good night though.. stood in the pouring rain for like 30 min trying to hail a cab on Glenwood Ave, haha. Everyone's hair/outfits were soaked.. but we looked real pretty before all that :)

March Madness is truely the highlight of my March though.. and tonight my HEELS made it through another round and are headed to the Elite 8! love it :)

so other than being super stressed with too much homework, that pretty much sums up my March.
I wanted to add a few pictures of my boys on here too.. mainly just because they are the cutest kids on earth and I want to brag a bit :)
Enjoy!

The story of us

We headed out to California
Everybody tried to warn us
Said we wouldn't make it any further
Than that worn out Chevy would

We broke down a time or two
Thought "maybe we didn't think it through"
We were all we had to turn to
When it wasn't lookin' good

We're lookin' back laughin'
'cause they called us crazy

[chorus]
We were young, we were wild, we were restless
Had to go, had to fly - had to get away
Took a chance on that feelin' - baby
We were lovin' blind - borderline reckless
We were livin' for the minute we were spinnin' in
Maybe we were a lot of things
But we weren't crazy

Just a couple kids a couple years ago
Now we gotta couple kids of our own
We turn out right - proved them wrong
Look at us goin' strong

Lookin' back laughin'
'cause they called us crazy

[repeat chorus]

Coulda set it down
When things got tough
Coulda walked away from this love
But that'd been crazy

We were young, we were wild, we were restless
Had to go, had to fly, had to get away
Took a chance on that feeling
We were lovin blind, borderline reckless
We were livin for the minute we were spinning in
Maybe we were a lot of things
Oh maybe we were a lot of things
But we werent crazy
We weren't crazy
We weren't crazy

I love my life

This weekend was so fun :) Besides the Pro Bowl being super lame and kinda putting a damper on my Sunday night.. I can't complain! Ritchie and I actually got to spend some time together Friday night.. such a luxury when you have two little ones. I think we put on a movie and I'm pretty sure I passed out on the couch before it was over, but none the less it was a nice and quiet evening at home. I love those! My boys have not had a paci now for 6 days! They are doing amazing with it! I'm such a proud mama! They still ask for it every time they lay down or get in the car but they are learning that we don't have them anymore.

Saturday we took them to the Flea Market to look for a slide and for some Disney DVDs. I didn't find either one, but it was still fun to get the boys outside and for us to spend time together outside the house. I love every minute I get to go out and do something. We only have one car so unless I want to wake up early to get Ritchie to work, I'm stuck in the house. They got some powered donuts and they were a MESS by the time we got home. We had to stop at the grocery store for dinner.. and I rarely ever take them to go grocery shopping because I can't usually handle both of them AND groceries. It was too funny though because we went to get some lettuce, and walked by the strawberries and Garret was like "Mommy, I NEED strawberries!" ha ha, of course I will never pass up buying them something good for them so he got some strawberries and ate about 4 or 5 while we were walking around the store. Later we took them to the Museum of Natural Sciences downtown to see the dinosaur bones. They were having the BEST time. We were on level 1 which is the "ocean" area with the big whale bones and all the fish. They were running back and forth between the aquariums saying "I see a fish!!" Then the fire alarm went off and they closed the museum for the rest of the day. We were so bummed out because they were having a blast. We decided instead of going home, we wanted to walk around the Capitol building and let the boys see all of the statues. They loved it. They didn't even fuss that we had to leave the museum early, so I think they still had a good day :) Of course I forgot my camera that day, but we're taking them back to the museum on Saturday, so I will have pictures next time!

I'm having a mommy moment right now because my boys are just growing up so fast! Tonight I was making them macaroni and cheese for dinner and Garret sees a Papa John's commercial and asked if we could have pizza instead. It was actually more of a "Daddy, pizza! I NEED pizza. I said pweease!" ha ha. They crack me up.

This is a busy week for us, and "T" comes over tomorrow night so the boys will be so excited to see her. She is such a great aunt and the boys are so happy when she comes to spend the night :)

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

How 'bout them HEELS!

YES! I love a victory like that :) UNC dominated the wolf pups tonight.. and made my day a whole lot better!

Actually what really put the cherry on top was hearing Garret singing "Kung Fu Fighting" in his room at the end of Kung Fu Panda. He is just too stinking cute sometimes. I guess that makes up for him having an attitude today. I can't really blame him though.. he needs some good sleep. Tonight is night 3 without their paps (pacifiers) and they are doing amazing but they are not falling asleep at 8pm like they used to.. now it's more like 11pm. Today was the first day they've taken a nap since we got rid of them too, so we're getting there :) slowly but surely! Ayden is being a superstar. He only asks for it when we get in the car, but it more than happy to get juice instead and then he forgets all about it. Garret asks for it more, which is strange because Ayden was the one that was more depended on it. I told Garret there were some baby birds outside crying so we gave the paps to them so they could sleep. He says "OK mommy" then asks me to go get his paps, ha ha! He's doing good though.. eventually they will completely be a thing of the past. OMGOSH my babies are growing up too fast!

Today was insane for me. I had a doctors appt this morning so my mom came to play with the boys and the rest of my day was spent on the phone back and forth between my doctors office and about 6 different pharmacies. Did you know every pharmacy can charge a different price for the same prescription? I'll give you an example.. My doctor prescribed me imitrex.. at Walgreen's the generic price for 12 pills was $253.00 INSANITY. Then I called my mother's pharmacy and they are filling in for $28.00. Crazy right?! I had no idea stuff like that was even legal. Then my anxiety medicine at my mom's pharmacy is $60 for 30 pills while at Walgreen's it's $9.99. It just doesn't make any sense. My anxiety level was through the roof and I started getting a dang migraine just from having to mess with it all. All is well now, the medicines are taken care of and I feel so much better :). That's the last time I will go on a rant about it I promise, ha ha!

Well I'm going to take advantage of getting HW done early today and getting me a good night's sleep :) Tomorrow is my sister's 7th grade dance and I am getting her primped and pampered before hand at my house. Expect pictures!

Until next time...

Testing 1..2..

Yay! I made a blog :) Hopefully I can keep up with this like I want to. I just want to bring people into my world. I am a stay at home mother of two, a wife, and a student. I have two boys who are 11 months apart and a wonderful husband :) For putting up with me.. he is the best man I've ever met.. lol. I'll have to remember that while writing a blog in the future I'm sure, lol! My kids are getting to that age where they do strange things, say the funniest stuff I've ever heard, and also drive me to the point of wanting to pull my hair out. I wouldn't want it any other way :). I'll start with a little bit about myself.. My name is Jessica. I am 24 years old. My husbands' name is Ritchie and my two little boys are Garret and Ayden. Garret is 2 1/2 and Ayden is 1 1/2. I am a stay at home mother and a full time college student studying to get my degree in business. I have zero free time, well I take that back.. I have SOME free time, I just don't always use it wisely. I am a football fanatic GO JETS! UGA! (college football... university of georgia, lol in case you didn't know). I honestly think I go into some kind of withdrawal or an acute depression when football season is over. I try to watch college basketball but I end up missing one game then another and before you know it it's March Madness and I've missed the whole season. I'm doing pretty good this year so far though. I've even watched a few NBA games.. and that NEVER happens. I also watch UFC (yes I promise I'm a girl! ha ha) My husband got me into it a few years ago. After I reluctantly watched a few fights, I started paying attention and before I knew it I was a fan! I like girly stuff too.. getting my hair done, my nails done, tanning, etc. I like to watch movies and listen to music when I can. We have an english bulldog named Herschel (yes, like Herschel Walker!!) Hmm let's see, I love the beach.. but I hate the ocean. My favorite color is blue... and I'm running out of things to say about myself.. ha ha! Anyways, I'm not trying to be a professional writer or anything so I will more than likely spell things wrong, not use correct punctuation, and my grammar will suck. I am in English this semester though, so maybe it will get better as the weeks go on :) We shall see!

Welcome to my world :) Enjoy!
